One of photography’s great joys, for me, is to wander around – especially in some new environment – and to simply watch, and then take photos.
To watch two-dimensionally, to try and see in every vista a potential photography is an acquired skill. It’s not something I thought of myself; I read this in one of nice photography theory books I carry around in my iPad Kindle. But it’s very true. One thing is to observe the world, something else is to look at everything as if it just a shape, a play of light and shadow, there only for the benefit of your camera.
Of course, it helps if the subject is curious or even a bit mad, like a herd of sheep grazing peacefully literally minutes away from very urban city centre of Dusseldorf.
